ON SITE FIBERCARE PROTECTANT

Fibercare Protectant
Fibercare is a professionally-applied, deep-penetrating protective finish for fabric and leather furniture, carpets, rugs, and fabrics. When applied correctly Fiberseal penetrates, deep, into the fiber to form a molecular "lock" inside the fiber (unlike Scotchguard - which only forms a protective barrier on the outside of the fiber). Our Fibercare protective shield effectively resists soil and stains, making cleaning much more effective.

How does Fibercare protector work?

Fibercare products are fluorochemical treatments designed to improve carpet and fabric fibers' resistance to oil and water based stains, as well as soiling from everyday use.

How long does the protection from Fibercare products last?

Under "normal" conditions and with reasonable care, Fibercare protector will provide long-lasting benefits. On Site Professional Cleaning research has shown that Fibercare protector is very durable to foot traffic. However, performance will diminish somewhat over time with each hot water extraction cleaning. For optimal soil and stain protection, On Site recommends that Fibercare be reaplied after every hot water extraction.
The Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Cerification (IICRC) certifies and endorses professional cleaning, restoration, and inspection firms that establish and maintain a professional atmosphere in conducting business. On Site Professional Cleaning is an IICRC Certified Firm.

Why doesn't water "bead up" on some carpets treated with Fibercare protector?

Some carpet fibers may not exhibit the beading characteristic typically linked to Fibercare protector. This can be caused by spaces between loosely woven carpet pile. This does not affect the stain and soil resistance of the Fibercare protector application. The liquid can be easily blotted up even if it does not bead up.

Does Fibercare protector "waterproof" carpet?

Fibercare protector is not intended to be used as a waterproofing agent for carpet. However, it will provide improved resistance to water-based substances.

Does Fibercare protector contain formaldehyde?

No. There is no formaldehyde in any Fibercare product. The product is in a Turpene base (non-water based for better penetration into the fiber). Once the Turpene evaporates (1-2 hours), the protective finish bonds into the fiber (72-hour cure time).

Is Fibercare protector safe for children and pets?

Yes. All Fibercare carpet protector products go through extensive testing and have been safely used in homes for years.

Does Fibercare protector have an odor?

Fibercare protectors have an attractive light apple or peach fragrance. This fragrance will dissipate within a few days after application. The fragrance serves several purposes. The base fluorochemical (active ingredient) requires a fragrance to deal with a slight solvent odor. Also, the fragrance is effective in deodorizing malodors such as pet odors that may surface during the cleaning process. If there are concerns regarding this issue, we also have other types of protective finishes without fragrance.

How should carpet treated with Fibercare protector be cleaned?

Regular vacuuming is essential. Fibercare protector helps keep dry dirt and oily residues from sticking to the carpet fibers. This makes routine vacuuming more efficient and delays the need for a general hot water extraction cleaning. For optimal soil and stain protection, On Site recommends that Fibercare be reapplied after every hot water extraction. On Site recommends using a reputable professional cleaner.

Are our competitors' products the same as Fibercare protector from On Site Professional Cleaning?

When properly applied at the carpet mill, most fluorochemical protectors will provide reliable protection. But none will perform better than Fibercare protector. Silicone and waxed-based treatments often repel water-based spills almost as well as Fibercare protector, but have little resistance to oil-based stains. Worse yet, these same treatments actually attract and hold soil faster than carpet with no treatment at all.
